Tips
for Relieving Stress
Stress is something that everyone feels at some time or
another. One of the key aspects of stress is to realize
and recognize what situations or occasion's make us feel
stressed. If we can accomplish these tasks, we will be better
equipped to deal with the stress created. If possible, try
not to put yourself into these positions, instead steer
clear of them. Try not to let the situations overpower you
so you feel overwhelmed and helpless.

If you deal with the problem in the beginning instead of letting
it escalate into an enormous problem, part of your stress level
may be lowered. If after trying all of the above, and you still
feel stress, here are some things that you can do. At the end
of the day, take time for yourself to relax, put your feet up
and unwind. Take a long, comforting epsom salt bath if your health
allows you to. Epsom salts help to rid your body tissues of toxins
created by cellular wastes and lactic acid build-ups. Try to limit
your intake of caffeine and coffee which both can act as irritants.
Take time out during the day (e.g. lunch break) to take a breath
of fresh air to change your surroundings. If you are sitting for
long periods of time, stand up and walk around for a few minutes
to get the circulation flowing again to your legs and feet. Do
some stretches for whatever area of your body that might be feeling
tension. Try some shoulder shrugs and arm circles and shake your
legs and feet out. Gently massage the areas that may be bothering
you. Take a few deep breaths in slowly through your nose (trying
to breath from your abdomen instead of your chest) and let them
out slowly from your mouth. In general, a lot of people hold tension
in their neck and shoulder areas; by doing some preventative stretches
and exercises can aid in decreasing the tension. Above all, keep
a positive attitude with everything you do, eat a healthy and
balanced diet and exercise regularly. A healthy diet helps your
body rid itself of toxins, especially if you are drinking the
recommended 64 ounces of water a day. Exercising regularly will
keep your muscles toned and ready to perform better if you have
a busy, hectic day. Exercising also helps let a person decrease
their frustration levels, therefore they feel less stressed and
don't get irritated as quickly.
Laughter is also a great stress reliever that helps to release
built up tensions. Memorize your favorite joke, then recall it
to yourself whenever you begin to feel under pressure. Laughter
not only makes you feel better, but you will also be supplying
your body with increased oxygen which will aid your body in removing
the wastes at the cellular level.
